Why Dental Implants?

We have treated many thousands of patients using dental implants and believe they provide a safe, predictable and aesthetic way of replacing missing teeth.

In a healthy tooth the root transmits “chewing forces” to the jawbone. If one or more teeth are missing, these forces are no longer effective and this can cause the bone to start to disintegrate.

By replacing the tooth root with a small titanium, titanium zirconium or ceramic screw, gradual bone deterioration can be prevented. The use of titanium as the material of choice for implants is the result of many years of research and has been found to be a material well tolerated by the body. Ceramic implants are ivory-colored, like a natural tooth root, providing an aesthetic alternative to metal implants. Dental implants act as a secure foundation for crowns, bridges or dentures.

Dental implant treatment

Before treatment

We use our experience and skills to provide evidence-based treatment of the highest standards which is essential for the long-term success of dental implants.

Our commitment to this ethos is illustrated by our preferred use of the Straumann® Dental Implant System in most cases.

The Straumann system is the result of over 30 years of scientific experience and is one of the best-researched and most clinically proven systems available. We believe it offers long-lasting, reliable restorations.

After treatment

In our experience, dental implants provide patients with more confidence to eat, talk, laugh and enjoy life to the full with the benefit of a natural smile. In most cases, dental implants offer more stability and a better prognosis than conventional treatments.

Sometimes a period of healing is necessary and during this time we may provide you with a provisional restoration. We will always discuss this with you before treatment starts so you are fully aware of all the stages we need to complete in order to fully restore your smile. At no stage are patients left with unsightly gaps or missing teeth.
